Inaugural EPiC Workshop

EPiC is hosting a philosophy of education workshop. The workshop features the following papers: "Wisdom’s Limit”, by Jeff Malpas, University of Tasmania, “Education, Conversation, and New Learning Technologies", by David Bakhurst, Queen’s University, and “The Promise and Limits of Educational Technology”, Paul Fairfield, Queen’s University. EPiC Research Group Meeting

The next EPiC meeting will be at Watson 307, next Friday, from 12:00-2:00. Paul Fairfield will lead a discusion on critical thinking, and talk about some of his own work on the subject.

September 19, 2014

There will be an EPiC meeting this Friday, from 1:00-3:00, at Watson 122. Paul Fairfield has expressed interest in taking up some of the issues Bakhurst raised about critical thinking, and so will get the discussion started. 

Addendum: Dr. Fairfield's discussion of critical thinking was moved to the next week, and instead Dr. Bakhurst led a discussion on knowledge by testimony this week.

The next EPiC meeting will be at Watson 517, on Wednesday at 1:30. David Bakhurst will be presenting some sketches of chapters for a tentative new book in philosophy of education, and will be discussing such subjects as reasons, autonomy, and new learning technologies.
